Innocently Draped Destruction: Writing 101, Day FOUR

Young, innocent and full of life. This was going to be her greatest adventure yet.  No rules, no pain, no boundaries…

Nothing stood between her and her dreams. Nothing but her bright green door and the pure white drapes adorning her brave unknowing soul…

Who could blame her? For she had built her house up in the clouds.  Nice and clean and seeming strong, however, her house was destined to fall…

The green paint she so loved was beginning to fade, as her adventure was nearing it’s end.  The drapes began to turn yellow and shred- she soon wondered what she’d done wrong.

Raging storms brewed and her windows grew dark- as she watched her own youth fade away.  The bright paint was all gone and all that was left was a rugged and raw window frame.

A very large storm caused her house to crash down. All that was left was a wreckage- a mess.  She lifted herself from the wreckage beneath her. Scoffers stood by and they pointed and laughed: “That’s what she gets for painting her door green and building her house in the clouds!”

Her head was spinning. Her dreams had been crushed; her innocence beaten away.  But as her head cleared, she heard a kind voice- calling her name from above.

Come here, my dear dreamer, you’re stronger than ever! Let’s build a new house; this time not on your own.  We will build a grand door and your drapes will be new. The foundation won’t crack and the storms won’t do damage.

Her new paint would be golden; it would last her forever.

The adventure resumed, however, not as before.  Her new house, amazingly planned and designed- by her one and only true builder!

Matthew 7:24-27

Building on a Solid Foundation

24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”

Note:  This is my assignment for Day 4 of the WordPress Writing 101 Course- Choose a picture from the (suggested) gallery and use it as a writing prompt.  I did my best- the point of this class (for me) is to reestablish a solid writing habit and improve upon my writing ability.  I am open to extremely positive feedback….haha, Just kidding! I am open to any and all constructive feedback.

  1. I thought it completely sucked! Just kidding. 🙂 Had to stir the “positive” pot here a little.
I enjoyed the tale and it held a bit of poetic prose to it. Why green? Was that intentional? Just curious. 🙂

    • Hahahahahaha. If you didn’t like it, that perfectly OK!
So, the green…Yes, intentional:) Green is representative of: youth, being naive, unknowing, a novice and even in some cases it could represent ignorance. It’s like a tomato that’s not ripe. Good question! I was wondering if that was going to be a realized aspect or not. AND Thank you for your humor- you know that is always welcomed by me!

      • Very good! I was hoping that was the intent with your color choice. I adore intentional writing and that small detail made yours so much better, especially since I know it had purpose.
See there? I really do like your post. 🙂

      • I forget what I responded it (the first time) but I know I was glad for the intentionality of your color choice, and that you are right regarding its representation. So I like this post more because of your thoughtfulness in the details. 🙂
That’s the best I can surmise since my original post is gone. 😢😢😢😕😕😕

      • I appreciate your recall! Lol I can’t believe I did that. It even asked, “are you sure you want to delete?….” And my iPad screen was acting strange and I pressed yes instead of no…lol I promise. One of those moments where my husband is looking over at me with a look on his face which said, “yes, my love, you are indeed a nut…”

      • Since you’re use to that face, just imagine me giving it to you as well. I don’t think I’ve EVER had a comment revoked or deleted! Oh, wait, yes I have . . . You’re all good. 😊

    • There are many adventures- one of which I am hoping will be a road trip and soon!!! And thank you, Teresa, God is faithful to provide the grace through time and technology- I truly didn’t know what to write when I started out. Just relieved it made some kind of sense! 🙏🏼
