I dedicate this Sunshine Blogger Award to my late Grandmother, Wanda Mae Robinson. The very second I viewed the Sunshine notification, the song (above) popped into my head.
Small and silent tears approach as I remember my grandma singing to me. I am reminded of her blazingly beautiful heart. She loved God and she loved her family, both passionately.
2003: Grandma was enduring, what would be, her last battle with cancer. By late summer/early fall, the cancer had spread and was beyond defeat.
It was a sunny September day as she and I sat on a bench in one of the hospital corridors. This wing of the hospital was brightly lit with sunshine, being on one of the top floors. We sat and watched as doctors and nurses buzzed around, in and out of the rooms, holding their binders and wearing their hospital fashion scrubs and lab coats.
My grandma always set the standard very high for silliness. Impending death didn’t even hinder her humor!
So, as I was saying, she and I were sitting on a bench (probably waiting for the doctor and taking a stretch break) and this hospital chaplain keeps walking past us. He’s talking and showing papers to someone. Finally, after he’s walked past us a few times, he says “goodbye” to the person and is walking away.
His back is to us (thankfully for him) and my grandma flashes her hospital “gown” up and then giggles…blood rushes to my face as I realize my own grandma just flashed the chaplain…a preacher…a man of God!
We giggled that one all the way to heaven! I’m pretty sure she’s up there teaching the Angels how to not be so somber (if they happen to be somber, anyway!)
📜The Rules: see the end of this post!📜
1. What is the one thing you want your readers to take from your writings?
I want readers to see the one true God and find their own journey to a strong faith and renewed, refreshed relationship with Him. Through my own imperfect journey and experiences, I want to be a light and an encourager in a world of dark and cinical chaos. It is truly a journey and it can be beautiful.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
2. What is one thing you can NOT live without?
FAITH. Be it huge, or as small as the size of a mustard seed…
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
Hebrews 11 is titled “Faith in Action” in my NIV study Bible. I recommend reading Hebrews 11:31-40; Hebrews 12:1-3 (all together.) This scripture is prefect soul food when you have questions or need a boost in your FAITH.
3. Here’s your chance. You get to meet one person in the entire world, who is it?
The Apostle Paul. I bet you thought I’d pick Jesus…😉
I chose Paul because he was (in my opinion) the most wise leader of discipleship for Christ. When I became a Christian, I accepted Jesus into my heart. I meet with Jesus everyday.
Paul has the power of the Holy Spirit guiding him in all his teachings. He is not pompous or pious. Before he was a great apostle, he was a murderer of Christians! His life shows the immeasurable and vast glory of God, which is far beyond our human understanding.
4. Why did you start your blog?
Six months ago, I felt strongly moved to share my walk in life. Sharing my experiences, ugly and beautiful, is for the purpose of encouraging others who may feel alone in their struggles.
Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them. Psalm 126:6
Knowing we all fall, in one way or another, however deep the fall, we always have the choice to repent and find favor in God’s eyes. Knowing true vibrant beauty, like a rainbow after a violent storm…
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declairs the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me and I will listen to you.”
“You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all of your heart.”
Jeremiah 29: 11-13 (NIV)
5. What’s something you could do everyday if you could?
Explore, travel, take photographs, write, read!
6. What do you hope to do in a year that you are not capable of right now?
I HOPE to have advanced (by leaps and bounds) my knowledge and understanding of God, my skill in photography, writing, and organization.
My dream is to travel for missions as a photojournalist…a dream and a prayerful hope.
📢My Nominees: I’ve only listed 3 because I have so many favorites and I have a very difficult time choosing from an ocean of sunshine! It would take all day and night, given my tech skills, to get that many links up properly!
