I have the honor of being able to live out my beliefs rather than preach them to those around me. I am not self righteous nor even close to perfection. I do, however, have a true heart for God and I believe FULLY in the gospel of Christ!
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. -Ephesians 2:8
A great majority of my family is composed of nonbelievers (in other words they are not Christians.) Many of them possess incredible enginuity and have excelled in the world with their careers, their studies and their intelligence. My grandfather is, quite literally, a retired rocket scientist.
Dare I argue the truth of the gospel of Christ with my highly intelligent family? My answer to this is yes! I choose to argue without words. Why argue with words when the truth is already set before everybody in the form of the Bible? My best display of the gospel of Christ is going to be through the way I live my life.
But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seeing plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God. -John 3:21
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. – John 3:36
Does this mean that I have to live the perfect, most Godly life? Are people going to judge me for the wrong that I do, more so than the right? Perfection is for Jesus not for humans. The answers: Absolutely- they will judge me and anybody else who proclaims to be a Christian!…Don’t we all?
Fortunately the expressed judgment of people is not the ultimate judgment. As a matter of fact, it’s just something to deter one’s mind from the truth.
So the real question becomes, “what if?” What if I am right? What if The Bible is correct and you didn’t believe? You pass away, only to realize that you were wrong and there’s no turning back.
So if I am wrong, then I suppose nothing would happen, correct? No harm, no foul….
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. (Hebrews 6:19-20 NIV)
The purpose of my blog is to mark the journey that I am going through with God. To share what I am learning along the way- to have a deeper faith in Him and to put my hurt and pain on to Him. I’ve learned (through much pain) I cannot carry it all on my own.
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world. -2 Corinthians 10:3
Today I encourage you to seek God and to seek his word. I encourage you to allow the question of “what if” to resonate in your mind.
Ps- I welcome your thoughts, questions, ideas.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. -Romans 15:13
