“A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but a heartache crushes the spirit.” -Proberbs 15:13
It’s all on you…TO SEEK GOD’S HELP.
It’s all on you…To take take in a deep breath of GOD’S Holy Spirit.
It’s all on you…To remember THIS IS NOT a battle of this realm; IT IS the LORD’S BATTLE.
Weary in heart is a painful place to be, however, it is not a place to dwell or to be captive. As I explained to my 11 year old daughter this morning, imagine yourself right now- you have a shovel and you’re digging yourself deeper and deeper into the dirt…The more negativity and self pity you ALLOW to flow from your lips, the deeper your pain and sorrow will be.
Prior to our drive to school, we had several “battles” of pre-teen escapades. She wants what she wants and will run her mouth and will even throw herself on the ground in her valiant efforts to get her way…quite honestly, gives me flashbacks of when she was 3 years old. I sit and watch (outwardly patient for a time) in complete awe of the passion she exhibits.
Are adults any better at accepting direction? I bet some are, however, I confess- the burden is one I have yet to fully conquer. My heart is fragile, yet strong. I have a verse stuck in my mind that gives me hope and calms my crushed spirit:
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to thebroken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles,but the Lord delivers him from them all;” –Psalm 34:17-19
The lesson in this:
Troubles come, sometimes stay for a long time, then go. How do the go? When we humble our weary hearts and turn to God for understanding. If we wait around expecting the worldly source of our troubles to change, we will be stuck and miserable. There’s nothing that drains my energy more than to be stuck in a miserable frame of existence!
I HAVE TO TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY TO SEEK GOD FIRSTHAND, EVEN IF IT MEANS I PRAY WITHOUT WORDS; Consciously making that first advance toward Him for help and for the willingness to hand it over.
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” –Matthew 6:33
Relying on my own strength, waiting and hoping on something to change, is truly unwise and will lodge my heart deeper and deeper into despair and pain.
The necessary actions (from my experiences):
- Seek God for His Holy Spirit and guidance;
- Breathe! Give the battle to the only ONE who can win;
- Hit “the mute button” on the lies that the evil one puts in your head;
- Remember: Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
- Finally: Psalm 27:14 Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
Let’s not foget the component that is vital in our journey: FAITH!
Faith is part of the Armor of God and shields us from the “flaming arrows” that are aimed at our hearts. This visual and understanding gives me peace- God’s Peace: the kind of peace that cannot be described in human expression.
My prayer is for God’s peace and assurance to consume our hearts so that our pain is only for a moment; For us to grow and have the joy that makes our faces shine.
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
